It is difficult to find the words to express the loss that we feel. As we know that your family is grieving, we are grieving as well.
Matilda was an incredibly loving and trusting spirit, and we are all so truly privileged to have shared in her life. It is very rare that one has the opportunity to know one of God's creatures that daily exemplifies love, grace, pure joy, and unconditional love.
We know that God had a very special plan for Matilda's time with us on Earth, and that His plan for her will only continue now that she is one of His angels in Heaven. We are truly blessed to have shared in her life.
Please know that we will continue to grieve with you, but that we will also never forget the memories of Matilda that will continue to make us smile daily. There will never be another loyal companion like Matilda.
She will always be remembered tenderly for her "six-week beak and nail trimmings"! We always enjoyed her visits to see Dr. Randy.
She had a unique tenderness in her that sparked warmth and happiness in everyone that knew her. Her memory will continue to encourage us to do our very best for the animals in our care.
We are blessed to have known her and to have loved her. Thank you for letting us share in her life; it has been a privilege.

RAVE: For the long life and career of Matilda, the Bessemer bird cited by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's oldest chicken. Matilda died last week at the age of 16, which is downright ancient for a chicken. She performed for years in a magic act called Mort the Mystifying and Donna. In later life, as her age and fame increased, she made an appearance on "The Tonight Show".

I'm so sorry to hear about Matilda. (Very odd! I'm working out of town where the office is out in the boondocks and a rooster just started crowing!)
She was a trooper. She brought joy and laughter to many people. She was good for magic and gave more than she took. She enriched your lives and those around her. She left us better off than we were before she came. That's more than I can say for a lot of people.
One thing for sure - this little angel's gone to heaven already equipped with wings!
I don't think I'll mourn her passing. I think I will celebrate her life. I'll be sending a check to the Humane Society for Matilda. Take care.
